Meet The Family

Strauss Groep (Strauss Group) is a group of companies serving Upington and its surroundings. The roots of the group can be traced back to 1966 when it was founded by Johannes Cornelis Strauss. The name “Strauss Grondverskuiwers” (Strauss Earthmoving) was adopted and later renamed to “Strauss Siviel” (Strauss Civil). Over the past 50+ years this one-man enterprise has developed and recently grown into a group of companies (Poort Beton, Strauss Meganies, Strauss Plant Hire and IT5 Siviel). They are currently directed and managed by the second generation.

The Group has a track record of industry excellence, puts a high premium on sustainable and responsible development and has created, by means of modern office buildings and an extensive human resources department, a pleasant working environment.

Poort Beton is a cement brick plant offering a diverse product range including, a crusher plant, ready mix plants, an aggregate classifier (washing), and the acquisition of a truck mounted concrete pump. The mass block machine plant ensures uniformity, the highest quality and increased production.

Strauss Meganies operates one of the best-equipped workshops in the Northern Cape, responsible for the maintenance of the different operating plants as well as for a fleet of 411 units of equipment.

Strauss Plant Hire focuses on being the first-choice plant hire company operating in a ±350km radius from Upington in the Northern Cape.

IT5 SIVIEL, originally known as Strauss Siviel, and recently as Idada Trading 5, is a dynamic Grade 8CE construction company with the resources to undertake a wide range of civil engineering and mining projects in the Northern Cape, Southern Africa. IT5 Siviel is based in Upington, and has a satellite office in Kathu.
